This Classic Buggy, glistening in Western Blue Metallic flake, is a rolling tribute to the Bruce Meyers legacy. The colour evokes the Pacific at twilight and a perfect fusion of the wild west sky and the vibrant surf culture it helped define. It’s a colour that speaks of endless horizons and the promise of adventure just around the next corner.

While the classic buggy often ran on smoothies or stock steel wheels, this one kicks it up a notch with a set of aggressive 15" Ultra Type 50 Wheels. Their deep-dish, five-spoke design adds a touch of German hot-rod aggression, a nod to the performance lurking within. The purposeful stance is achieved with meaty Cooper Cobra tyres—215/65R15s on the 7J fronts for precise steering and fat 255/70R15s on the 8J wide rears to put the power down and handle the sandy shoulders of Pacific Coast Highway.

Sliding inside onto the BB Clubman Seats is to buckle into a purpose-built cockpit. They offer the period-correct bucket style essential for staying planted during spirited drives. The dash, however, reveals a sophisticated modern heart. The stock VW gauges have been swapped for a stunning set of Porsche 944 gauges with chrome bezels, complemented by VDO oil pressure and voltmeter gauges. The Vintage Speed Black Mamba Gear Shifter, with its precise short-throw action and sleek black base, is the jewel of the interior, making every gear change a satisfying, mechanical event.

And under the rear deck lies the reason it all worked: the air-cooled, 1600cc twin-port engine, now breathing deeply through a pair of responsive 34 ICT carburetors. This setup transforms the reliable VW powerplant into an eager performer, delivering a throaty exhaust note that is the authentic soundtrack of coastal freedom. It’s not about brute force; it’s about accessible, reliable power that sings through the gears.

Topped with a bikini-style soft top, this Western Blue Classic Buggy is more than a replica; it’s a continuation of a legacy. It represents the ultimate freedom that fiberglass made possible—the freedom to chase the swell, to find an empty peak, and to carry the essence of the California surf scene wherever the road leads.
